First Mother's Day
a lot like any other day except that I got to be spoiled by dad and really think about how much I love my little guy.
and how truly lucky I am to be his mom.
we spent the day at our favorite beach, beach 69s, where stef and I got married.
we only took one photo, and his hair was up in a pony tail, in preparation for the swim ahead...
love. luck. pure joy.

Teeth (and his first cold)
The last two weeks have been pretty rough for our guy.
It started with his first cold and fever. Poor Lance had no idea what hit him!
and just when he was starting to feel better, his first tooth came in!! No problem!
... to be followed by the tooth next to it. BIG problem. lots of tears and upset to accompany it. The worst part was that the climax of the teething pain came at the exact hour of my follow up appointment with Dr. N, my OB! The very woman who brought my happy, adorable baby into this world!!!
and I couldn't show off what an amazing child I have! and what a fabulous mother I am!!!!!!!!
not to mention that my infant tylenol was on the recall list and I was stuck with a screaming, in pain baby until Stef made it home with the generics!
too bad.
but here are the new teeth! bottom, center.

Bathtime
Lance is growing up. And it's happening way too fast.
For the first seven plus months of his life, either Stef or I has gotten in the bath with him at bathtime. We had one of those baby bath things, but somehow we never got around to trying it out. So... every night for the past many, many nights, we have hopped in the tub with Lance before bed for his bath.
Last week, I wasn't quite in the mood and thought to myself... "he can do it! why not?!"
so I put him in the tub all by himself.
and guess what?
he LOVED it. He splashed and smiled and crawled all over the place!
and I sat on the side and cried. the whole time.
It was one of my first letting go moments. He was having WAY more fun without me than he had with me and I had to let that go...
Go Lance!!!!

Swim Lessons
Well if one thing is certain, it's that Stef and I LOVE the water. So, even though we're not "supposed" to project our likes and dislikes onto our son, we can't really hide our hope that he loves it just as much as we do.
Lance had his first swim lesson today. I'm not sure who had more fun, Stef or Lance. The two of them had a blast at our local YWCA with the rest of the parents and kids in the group. I got to watch and observe the two of them together, which was also fantastic. Here are some of the highlight shots:

okay, I know I can't get away with ending this post without addressing Lance's continually amazing hair. As you can see, it only gets more hilarious when wet and slicked down!! I leave you with this last shot proving just how long those curls really are... love my boy!
