"All Abooooooooooard!"

The Potty Train!!!

We are almost a month in and I'm ready to share the good news...
our clothesline is significantly lighter these days- Lance has ditched the diapers and has moved gracefully into Big Boy Undies. Go Lance!

Lance has been practicing using the potty for several months now but I was so scared to take the next step that it wasn't until a few weeks ago that we decided to say "bye bye diapers" for good. Whew, it's been exhausting! Lance has been a quick learner and has been more than a little excited about all the rewards (bribes?) that he has earned. He's also had his fair share of accidents (especially in the beginning) and does not like to take pit stops when he is playing...

Over the past couple of months, Lance and I talked about what we would do with his diapers when he was ready to say goodbye to them and he decided that he should give them to Kiran. On his second full day in undies, I was congratulating him when he said that he was ready to say "bye, bye to diapers." The little guy went into his room and asked me to get his diaper basket down. He picked it up and carried it into Kiran's room so that he could "give them to KK." When I asked if he wanted to put them in Kiran's closet, Lance clearly said that he wanted to put his diapers into Kiran's basket. Then, (sniff, sniff) ceremoniously starting with his favorites (green) he put his diapers one by one into Kiran's basket. It was definitely one of those moments where I felt like he was aging right before my eyes!! He talked about each diaper and it's color and gave it to KK and I proudly watched and shed a few tears and felt so full of that mom feeling that I can't really describe...

anyway, short story LONG, Lance is rockin' some Thomas the Train briefs these days and his poofy diaper booty is a thing of the past.
We are so proud of you Lance!!!

Laugh

Kiran loves to laugh. He gets a kick out of most things these days. When he does something new and feels proud he lets out a little giggle and if you repeat the sound he just made, he'll crack up.
Here's a video I took while we were passing a ball back and forth- apparently, it was HILARIOUS! Sorry about the camera going all over the place, but hearing KK cracking up is worth it! You've got to watch the whole thing- he really gets going good mid way through!

Tree Climber

Lance has recently gotten into climbing trees. Stef spots him but he does the actual climbing and he loves it! He doesn't seem scared of heights one bit and the best part is that now when we are walking or driving around town, he'll spot a tree and exclaim, "Mommy!!!! That looks like a PERFECT tree to climb!!!"

More Bathtime Love

For some reason the bathtub seems to be the perfect place for Lance and Kiran to play together at this point. In that little space their age spread doesn't make a big difference- they both love to splash, kick, and play with the usual tub toys. Lance loves playing with KK in the tub and it has always been Kiran's happiest time of day. Now that Kiran can hold his own in there, tubby time has taken on a whole new level of fun!

Hair

Lance got his second haircut.
It's layered. It's shorter. It's still crazy, but it can be mostly stretched into a ponytail if need be. It is WAY easier to comb out and Lance is looking more and more like a little boy.
Thanks to Mandy for giving Lance his best cut yet!

Meanwhile, Kiran's frohawk is really getting good. The sides are growing in a little and the top is getting loooong and curly. The best part is his straight bangs that make him look quite serious at times! These locks are drawing the usual number of comments from strangers... never mind his smile or his chunky thighs. It's all about the hair!

Favorite Color(s)

It's been about six months since Lance declared his favorite color to be green. Lime green to be precise.
In the last few weeks, he has added red to the mix, because he knows that it's Daddy's favorite.
So today, he wanted to wear his two favorite color shirts. At the same time. He rocked it with pride!
